【宮古島から世界へ】エコガイドカフェ、持続可能な観光の国際認証「GSTC」を取得しました！
いつもエコガイドカフェをご愛顧いただき、誠にありがとうございます。
宮古島で「海の生物やサンゴに配慮したSDGsアクティビティ」を提供し続けてきた私たちから、皆様に重大なご報告があります。
この度、エコガイドカフェ（運営：エコツーラボ合同会社）は、2024年12月2日をもちまして、**持続可能な観光の国際認証である「GSTC認証」**を取得いたしました。
これは、日頃から私たちの活動にご理解・ご協力いただいているゲストの皆様、地域の皆様、そしてパートナー企業の皆様のおかげです。心より感謝申し上げます。
日本で3番目となる快挙
今回私たちが取得した「GSTC認証（ツアーオペレーター部門）」は、世界基準の極めて厳格な審査を通過する必要があり、認証機関であるUCSL様による審査を経て、正式に認められました。
日本国内のツアーオペレーターとしては、Tricolage株式会社様、株式会社JTB様に次ぐ、国内3番目の取得となります。宮古島の小さな事業者である私たちが、このような世界的な評価をいただけたことを、大変誇りに思います。
「GSTC認証」とは？
「GSTC（Global Sustainable Tourism Council：世界持続可能ツーリズム協議会）」とは、国連の機関も支援する、持続可能な観光（サステナブルツーリズム）のための国際基準を策定・管理する組織です。
GSTCの基準は、単に「環境に優しい」というだけでなく、以下の4つの柱に基づいています。
- 持続可能な経営（法令遵守、効果的なマネジメント、スタッフへの適切な配慮など）
- 社会・経済的インパクト（地域社会への貢献、地域雇用の創出、公正な取引など）
- 文化的インパクト（地域の文化遺産の尊重・保護、訪問者への適切な情報提供など）
- 環境へのインパクト（資源の保全、環境負荷の低減、生物多様性の保護など）
これらすべての基準において、事業者が持続可能性を真剣に実践していることが認められなければ、認証は得られません。（参考：GSTC公式ウェブサイト）
私たちが評価された取り組み
エコガイドカフェでは、創業以来「宮古島の美しい自然を、そのままの姿で未来に残したい」という想いのもと、様々な取り組みを続けてまいりました。

- サンゴに触れない・傷つけない「ノータッチサンゴ」ルールの徹底
- 環境負荷の少ない機材の使用と、日々の清掃活動
- ゲストの皆様への、ツアー前の丁寧な環境ブリーフィング
- 地域の生態系や文化を学ぶ「探求学習プログラム」の提供
- スタッフの継続的な環境教育と、公正な労働環境の整備
今回の認証取得は、これらの地道な活動が「極めて厳格な国際標準」によって認められた証であると受け止めています。

Title: From Miyakojima to the World: Eco Guide Cafe Achieves Prestigious GSTC Certification!
Thank you for your continued support of Eco Guide Cafe.
We have a very important announcement to share with everyone who supports our mission of providing SDGs-focused activities that respect the marine life and coral of Miyakojima.
As of December 2, 2024, Eco Guide Cafe (operated by Ecotour Lab LLC) has officially achieved international “GSTC Certification” for sustainable tourism.
This accomplishment was only possible thanks to the understanding and cooperation of our guests, the local community, and our valued partners. We extend our sincerest gratitude to you all.
A Milestone: The Third in Japan
The “GSTC Certification (Tour Operator Criteria)” we received requires passing an extremely rigorous, world-class audit, which was conducted by the certification body UCSL.
We are incredibly proud to be the third tour operator in all of Japan to earn this distinction, following Tricolage Inc. and JTB Corp. For a small operator on Miyakojima Island to receive such global recognition is a great honor.
What is “GSTC Certification”?
The GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) is an international organization, supported by UN agencies, that establishes and manages global standards for sustainable tourism.
The GSTC Criteria are not just about being “eco-friendly.” They are built on four key pillars:
- Sustainable Management: (Effective management, legal compliance, fair treatment of staff, etc.)
- Socio-economic Impacts: (Benefits to the local community, local employment, fair trade, etc.)
- Cultural Impacts: (Respecting and protecting cultural heritage, providing accurate information to visitors, etc.)
- Environmental Impacts: (Conservation of resources, pollution reduction, protection of biodiversity, etc.)
An operator must prove they are seriously implementing sustainability practices across all these criteria to earn certification. (Reference: GSTC Official Website)
Our Recognized Efforts
Since our founding, Eco Guide Cafe has operated with one core belief: “To preserve the stunning nature of Miyakojima, just as it is, for future generations.”

Our recognized initiatives include:
- Strict enforcement of our “No-Touch Coral” rule.
- Use of low-impact equipment and daily environmental clean-up activities.
- Providing thorough environmental briefings to all guests before tours.

- Ensuring continuous environmental education and a fair working environment for our staff.
